Rachel cheats on Dally and when he breaks up with her, that is therefore the end of the Rachel/Dally relationship.

However, Rachel and Sodapop Curtis become a couple in the season finale.

The seventh season

1989-1990

The last season with the four starring socs.

Rachel, Bob, Marcia & Randy leave in the season finale.

The eighth season

The last season where this show felt like the same show.

S.E. Hinton, the creator, and Francis Ford Coppola, the director, leave the show and new people take over after this season.

The fans of the show say the best of the series is seasons 1-8, after that the show goes downhill.

1990-1991

The ninth season

S.E. Hinton is no longer on the writing staff, she's one of the producers now, and there is a whole new writing staff.

Francis Ford Coppola is no longer the director, he is also one of the producers, and the shows new director is Stephen Spielberg.

This is where everything starts changing. Everyone starts leaving. These seasons do not have the same feel as the earlier ones. Timothy Hutton joins the cast.

1991-1992

Dally returns as a guest appearance in one episode.

The tenth season

It seems like once this show got into the nineties and it left the eighties it was just never the same any more.

Ponyboy leaves in the season finale.

More new people are introduced once the originals leave.

1992-1993

Donna leaves with Ponyboy in the season finale.

The eleventh season

What a shame for such a good show to go this far downhill. What started out as a great show, to see it turn to this is heartbreaking.

1993-1994

The twelfth & final season

For long-term fans of this show, you may cry watching this season. Everything is closing off and coming to and end.

All the original cast members return for the series finale. I don't know if its just me, but the show just didn't have the same heart and warmth after season eight.

Nine, ten & eleven weren't great, but they were still better than this. The whole entire fan base HATES this season. I think pretty much every fan boy-cotted this season.

TV Guide voted it "The Worst Last Season Of A TV Show In Television History"

I have to agree. What a shame for such a good show to go out this badly. This was going to be their last season, and for it to end like this is terrible. Even the ending was a disappointment to fans. It should have been Rachel and Dally! Not Rachel and Soda!
