Season 7 - After Soda returns from the hockey tournaments

Soda had just gotten back from being away at the hockey tournaments today. He was at the old house with Ponyboy and Darry.

Ponyboy was in the bathroom and Darry was moving around old boxes down in the cellar looking for the barbecuing tools.

Soda stayed upstairs with Rachel while he unpacked his hockey stuff.

Rachel - Is that your team jacket?

Soda - Yeah.

Rachel smirked while looking at Soda in his hockey teams jacket. Suddenly Soda smiled, wondering what Rachel was going on about.

Soda - What?

Rachel - You've got no idea how much that jacket makes me wanna throw you down on that couch right now!

Soda laughed.

Soda - You really like it?

Rachel - Yessss..!!

Rachel said that like she was going to melt. Soda laughed out loud.

Rachel - You have no idea how hot you look.

Soda smiled, but yet blushed. Rachel took his hand into hers.

Rachel - What'd ya' say we go up to your old bedroom right this minute?

Soda - Ponyboy and Darry are here.

Soda said that, smiling at her.

Rachel - We'll be quiet.

Soda - You're never quiet.

Rachel - Oh come on! I've never wanted to attack you more.

Soda laughed. He put down his hockey bag that he was rummaging through and wrapped his arms around his girlfriend.

After a few minutes of kissing, suddenly....

Rachel - You think you can wear that jacket in bed tonight?

Soda - Seriously, what is it with you and this jacket?

Rachel smiled.

Rachel - It makes me want to corrupt you.

Soda blushed, smiling himself. He smirked.

Soda - Rachel!

He had to laugh.

Rachel - Come on, wear it to bed tonight. Some of my best fantasies might come true.

Soda laughed.

Soda - You got a one track mind, you know that?

Rachel smirked, taking Soda's hand in hers.

Rachel - Come on, let's go up to your old room and mess around.

Soda - What is the matter with you?

Soda smiled then suddenly Darry came up from the cellar carrying boxes. At the sight of Rachel and Soda making out, he rolled his eyes.

Darry - Don't you two ever stop?

Soda - It wasn't my fault. She can't keep her hands off me.

Rachel looked offended, almost laughing.

Darry - I'll set this stuff up outside. Anyone seen Ponyboy?

Suddenly they heard the bathroom door slam shut and Ponyboy came from around the corner.

Darry - Hey Ponyboy, help me with this -

Ponyboy - UHHH!!!!!

Ponyboy grabbed his jacket off the hook in disgust, throwing his cell phone in his back pocket.

Soda - What's going on?

Ponyboy - What's going on?! What's going on?! Well I'll tell you what's going on! Donna is going to that party at the....mansion....after she told me she wouldn't! I'm telling you, sometimes that girl can be so inconsiderate!

Rachel - Oh yeah, I heard about that party! I wanted to go, but somebody tore up my invitation!

Rachel gave Soda a hard look when she said that. Soda didn't want Rachel to go to that party at the Playgirl mansion when she received her invitation. Rachel had agreed she wouldn't go, knowing that it upset Soda, but she still couldn't help but think about it. Marcia was going, her little sister Donna, who was also Ponyboy's girlfriend, was going. But it didn't matter now....Soda had tore up Rachel's invitation. She grind her teeth when he did that.

Soda - It was for your own good!

Rachel sighed.

Rachel - So I can't have any fun?! Those are the best looking guys in - !

Soda gave Rachel a look and she piped down.

Rachel - Not knowing when to shut up....

Ponyboy - Yep. That's your thing.

Rachel playfully threw one of the couch pillows at Ponyboy.

Rachel - You know I won't be able to get in without an invitation? One of which I had, but my uptight boyfriend tore it up and flushed it down the toilet!

Ponyboy laughed. Darry was now gone outside and setting up the barbecue.

Ponyboy - Down the toilet, man? Really?

Rachel - So I couldn't fish it out and tape it back together.

Soda - And I am not uptight!

Rachel - Well then let me go to the party! Marcia's going!

Soda - Marcia's a skank!

Rachel looked offended.

Rachel - That's my best friend you're talking about!

Ponyboy snuck outside to help Darry with the barbecue.

Soda - Listen Rachel, you sneak off and go to that party and I'm gonna be very upset!

There was a moment of silence.

Rachel - Why don't you want me to go?

Soda - Because....there's gonna be lots of good looking guys there and....

He didn't finish his sentence, but Rachel knew what he was thinking. Her voice was soft.

Rachel - Soda....I wasn't going there to hook up with a bunch of guys, if that's what you were thinking. Is it that you're jealous, is that it?

They were both silent until Soda sighed.

Soda - Okay fine, I'm jealous.

Rachel - Why?

Soda - Because my girlfriend wants to go to the Playgirl mansion where the best looking men in the world are, do you really expect me not to be jealous?!

Rachel - All right, I won't go if it means that much to you. I can't go now anyway, even if I wanted to, you tore up my invitation and flushed it down the toilet. And besides, I told you I wasn't going to hook up with any guys while I was there, so what's the big deal? You don't trust me?

Soda - No, of course I trust you.

Rachel - Well you don't act like you trust me. You thought I was going there to hook up with guys. I can't believe you think that low of me.

Soda - No, I don't. I'm sorry if I thought that. It's just....

Rachel - What?

Soda - I guess you could say maybe I'm a little insecure, that's all.

Rachel - What? Soda, what on earth would somebody that looks like you have to be insecure about?

Soda - Yeah.

Rachel - You've got no reason to be insecure. You're one of the hottest guys I've ever laid my eyes on.

Soda's eyes widened.

Soda - One of?!

Rachel then smiled, realizing she might have put her foot in her mouth.

Rachel - I mean, the hottest guy I've ever laid my eyes on.

Rachel widely smirked and Soda smiled at her.

Soda - That's better.

Rachel - Look, I won't go to that party if it's gonna hurt you. I don't wanna do anything to hurt you, so I'm not gonna go.

Soda - Thank you. I appreciate that.

Rachel - Don't be insecure, okay? You got no reason to be.

Soda - Okay.

Soda smiled.

Rachel - Being insecure, that's for ugly guys, and you're hot.

Soda smiled. He could feel himself blush. He looked past Rachel and looked out the window. Ponyboy and Darry looked like they were busy with the barbecue. He wrapped his arms around Rachel's small body frame and smiled at her.

Soda - What'd you say we go up to my old bedroom?

Rachel quickly grabbed his hand and they went up the stairs to Soda's old childhood room. Since they had moved into their beach house, this side of town looked so different now.

Soda slightly laid on top of Rachel, who let herself relax on the bed. They began kissing fiercely and between their kisses, Soda mouthed the words 'I love you so much' to Rachel. She smiled. Rachel leaned up and whispered into Soda's ear. He felt her warm breath on his ear and loved it.

Rachel - Leave that jacket on. You look so cute in it.

Soda almost laughed. He suddenly felt Rachel's hands underneath his shirt. He shivered at her touch. Suddenly one of her hands moved down to his jeans as she let her hand glide over one side of his leg. When Soda started kissing Rachel's neck, she couldn't help but feel extreme bliss. She loved the feel of Soda's wet lips touching her. The feel of his lips on her skin felt so good.

When Soda moved closer to Rachel, she could feel the weight of his body on top of hers. She actually liked it. She felt him take her body in his arms and hold her close to him.

                           *****************************************************************

A little while later they were snuggled up on the bed together. Soda had his arms wrapped around Rachel's tiny body, but she pulled him closer to her anyway, resting her head on his chest. Soda lightly kissed the top of Rachel's head. Suddenly Rachel felt the baby kick. She didn't mention it to Soda, she never did, that was one of the things she liked to keep to herself. She was almost four months now and she was due in April.

Season 7 - Soda returns from the hockey league tournament

Soda had just gotten back from the hockey league tournament that morning so that afternoon he and Rachel had taken a drive to the SkyLine towers across town. As they both gazed out looking at the view, the realized it was just the two of them up there. The view of the city was beautiful.

Rachel - You know, I really missed you.

Soda smiled at her that cute smile of his that Rachel just loved. It made her want to kiss him every time. Suddenly Soda took Rachel into his arms. Rachel's small frame was pressed up against his chest and he held her tightly. She swung her arms around his neck and they started kissing fiercely.

Rachel - There's a restroom back there.

Rachel widely smirked at him.

Soda was so glad to be back home after the craziness of the hockey tournaments. He wanted nothing more than for things to be the same between him and Rachel. He loved her more than anything. He had wanted to be with her ever since high school.

But what was stopping him from being close to her now was....he was still so mad at her for cheating on him with Steve. Guys seemed to be the only thing Rachel could think about. It seemed like she would never be satisfied with it just being the two of them.

Right now all he wanted to do was sweep her off her feet and kiss her. But the heartache of what she did still hurt him terribly. And not only that, but the fact that it had been with Steve....his best friend since first grade.

Soda - Rachel, if you don't mind I'm really not in the mood right now.

Rachel - What's wrong?

Soda sighed, leaning against the wall looking out at the view from the SkyLine.

Rachel - I can tell something's on your mind. What is it?

Soda - Rachel, I love you more than anything. I always have, but I'm still really hurt.

Rachel - About what?

Soda gave Rachel a hard look as if to say 'What do you think?' Rachel then look embarrassed when she realized.

Rachel - Sorry....But come on Soda, can't we forget about that?

Soda - You slept with my best friend! You expect me to not be hurt?

Rachel realized that was a dumb thing she just said.

Soda - Just tell me....did you see Steve when I was gone?

Rachel - No.

Soda - Was he the only one?

Rachel looked taken aback.

Rachel - What?

Soda - During our relationship, have you been with any other guys? Was Steve the only one?

Rachel - Yes. I swear there was nobody else.

Soda - Well you lied to me the first time when I asked you if you were seeing Steve behind my back. Why should I believe anything you tell me now?

Rachel was silent for a moment.

Soda - What hurts the most is that before you and me, you two were my best friends. And let's not forget that you were pregnant with our baby when you slept with him. And we were engaged. That's what really pisses me off.

Rachel - Soda, what Steve and I had....it was nothing. It was just a stupid mistake I made and it meant nothing to me. It doesn't come close to what you and I have.

They were both silent for a moment.

Rachel - Soda...I love you.

Okay, wow! Soda looked at her suddenly. His mouth dropped open slightly and he looked like he didn't know what to say. In the two years that he and Rachel had been together, that was the first time she had told him that.

Even though he had been away now for a little while, thinking about how she cheated on him with Steve reopened a lot of wounds he had before he left.

He turned to face her directly since she was standing next to him.

Soda - Do you really mean that Rachel? Because please don't say it if you don't.

Rachel - Of course I mean it. I wouldn't have said it if I didn't.

Soda - Do you promise me you'll never do that again?

Rachel - Yes. Oh Soda, you have to believe me. I never wanted to hurt you. I just made a mistake.

Soda - It just seems like you're never gonna be satisfied with just me.

Rachel - But I am. I promise from now on it'll be different.

Soda - Okay then. I forgive you. But if you ever cheat on me again, I'm outta here. All right?

Rachel - Okay.

The Outsiders (Season 9) Dally shows up at Rachel and Soda's wedding

Rachel turns around in her wedding dress and gets the shock of her life; Dally was standing right behind her.

Dally - Hey red.
Rachel - Dally....
Dally [smiles] - Congratulations.

Rachel stands there in shock, her mouth hanging open. Did Soda or somebody else contact him and tell him about the wedding? He was wearing a black suit so he must have known. She didn't imagine he'd come down from New York for anything else.

Rachel - What....what are - ?
Dally [smirks] - What am I doing here? You didn't think I would miss this day, did you?

Rachel stammered and stuttered.

Rachel - But....how....how did you know?
Dally - The gang's been keeping in touch.

Rachel still couldn't help but stare at him in bewilderment. She couldn't believe he'd come all the way down from New York for what was his ex-girlfriend's wedding. He kept his hands in the pockets of his suit and walked slowly towards her. Finally, when he was standing directly in front of her, he took one hand out of his pocket and slowly stroked Rachel's right cheek with it. Rachel looked up into his brown eyes. She never thought she'd actually be glad to see him. She didn't know why, but she was.

Suddenly, when Dally spoke, his voice was so light it was like a whisper. But it was soft and soothing at the same time. A smile slowly aroused onto his face.

Dally - I always knew you'd look beautiful in a wedding dress.

For the first time, the shock flew from Rachel's face and she smiled. But Dally's hand was still on her cheek and they were staring into each others eyes.

Finally, when Rachel spoke up, her voice was shaky and nervous.

Rachel - Why....why did you come here?

Dally took his hand off Rachel's cheek and sighed. Then he looked up at her and slightly smiled.

Dally - Because....I had to see you.
Rachel - But why?

Dally, for a moment, stared into Rachel's green eyes. That was a good question. Why had he suddenly shown up at his ex-girlfriend's wedding out of the blue? He didn't think even he knew the answer to that question.

Dally - I just wanted to see you one more time.

They stared into each others eyes for a moment. There was a moment of silence until Dally broke it.

Dally - Oh Rachel....there's so much I wanna say and so much I know I shouldn't say.

Rachel stared at him for a moment. Deep down, she probably knew what it was he wanted to say to her. All the things he wanted to say to her, but  knew he couldn't say or shouldn't say.

But no matter what those things were he wanted to say, it was too late. Here she was, standing here in her wedding dress, about to walk out to the altar. It was really over between them.

Dally looked like he might work up some tears. Rachel walked past him, standing by the door when Dally suddenly lightly took a hold of her wrist. When Rachel felt his grip on her, she turned around to face him. He was so close to her now, looking into her eyes, that Rachel thought he was actually going to have the nerve to kiss her.

Dally - Rachel, wait....
Rachel - Dally....

Both their voices were like whispers. When Rachel spoke his name, Dally looked deep into those beautiful green eyes.

Rachel - It's a little too late.

Dally looked into Rachel's eyes. He knew what she meant. She could always see right through him. And she was right. It was too late now to say the things he wanted to say. Too late to say he regretted giving up on them, too late to tell her he loved her and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her....too late to tell her he could feel it literally killing him to see her on her wedding day to someone else.

But the hell with it! She had been his girl first! Before was walked out to that altar, before he missed his chance, he decided to go for it and tell her.

Dally - Rachel....

Dally looked down to the floor when he said her name. He could feel tears welling up in his eyes, tears he didn't want Rachel to see. Rachel turned around to face him fully.

Rachel - Dally, if there's something you wanna say to me, say it now.

Dally finally got the nerve to look up at her. He had managed to fight away the tears he had almost had and managed to smile at her, smile at her like deep down nothing was bothering him.

Dally - I just wanted to say....congratulations.

All of a sudden, Rachel smiled.

Rachel - Thanks.

She opened the door and took a deep breath when closing it slowly. She couldn't believe she was having cold feet. 'I guess everyone does at this point in their life', she thought.

It really is a crazy scenario, but yet somehow believable. I saw Alexis Bledel in interviews and I thought she seemed nice from what I saw. But of course that don't mean nothing. She's on TV doing a live interview, of course she's gonna be polite. So I guess I can't say, I don't know what she's like behind the scenes with the other actors.

On-screen the greasers and the socs are enemies, with the exception of Rachel, who is the soc-friend of the greasers.

In real life, with the exception of Alexis Bledel, the actors playing the greasers say the actors that play the socs are all really nice in real life. Michelle Meyrink, Darren Dalton and Leif Garrett are apparently really tight with the actors that play the greasers in real life.

Tommy Howell called Leif Garrett "one of my best friends and a great guy!" Patrick Swayze called Leif "I love that guy, he's awesome!"

The whole freakin' cast said that Alexis Bledel, who played the popular rich girl Rachel Williams, was a little snob.

Now get that!

On-screen Leif, Darren and Michelle are their enemies and Alexis is their good friend.

In real life Leif, Darren and Michelle are their good friends and Alexis was a little snob.

Usually you can tell that stuff, but Alexis Bledel had me fooled! I really would've believed she was as nice as her character in real life. She must be a damn good actress to pull it off, because apparently, according to the cast of the show, Bledel was nothing like her character.

But still, when Alexis Bledel and Rob Lowe try to play a couple on-screen, you just don't buy it!

In real life, the actors playing the greasers just loved Leif Garrett, Michelle Meyrink and Darren Dalton. And yet they couldn't stand Alexis Bledel. And on the show, it's the reverse!

Tommy Howell talks about The Outsiders in book

All the cast members said the same thing about Alexis Bledel! They all said she was a little snob. The first time I heard of it was when I read Tommy Howell's book and he said that about her.

Then I read Leif Garrett's book, he said it, and Michelle Meyrink said it too. Now, if just one of them had said it I might think, 'Okay maybe that's just that person's opinion of her' but the whole freakin' cast says it, then it's probably true!

Leif Garrett said this and it's so true :

"You know, it's almost kinda funny. Tommy and I, who are enemies on-screen, we're always in constant touch, going over to each others house and hanging out. And then you have Alexis, who played a friend of his on-screen, and yet they never hung out."

Tommy Howell, who stayed good friends with co-star Leif Garrett over the years, said that when he was releasing his book, Leif said that Tommy should call it :

"Bob's not a bitch, Rachel is."

Leif Garrett, who played the villain on The Outsiders for twelve seasons, was revealed by Tommy Howell to be one of the nicest people on earth in real life. Every actor that worked on the show loved Leif and had nothing but good things to say about him. Even the creator of the show, Susan Hinton, and the director, Francis Ford Coppola, said he was a great guy. Coppola says Leif was "everybody's best friend".

Bob wasn't the backstage bitch. Alexis Bledel, who played the socy red-headed cheerleader and friend of the greasers, was.

Tommy Howell was asked, "The REAL Outsiders bitch?" Howell says :

That's an easy call. The biggest bitch on the set of The Outsiders was Alexis Bledel.

Leif Garrett says, "People meet me and they say, "Oh my god, I didn't expect you to be this nice!"

In Tommy Howell's book he reveals who he did like, Leif Garrett, and who he didn't like, Alexis Bledel.

Tommy Howell says about his newly released book, "One of the things that seems to shock people is that Leif Garrett and I are friends."

According to Howell's book, Alexis Bledel who played the soc friend of the greasers on-screen, wasn't anything like her character.

During an interview with Tommy, Leif smirks and says, "You know, it's almost kinda funny. Tommy and I, who are enemies on-screen, are always going over to each others house and hanging out, and then you have Alexis, who played a friend of his on-screen, and yet in real life they never go to each others house."

In the same interview Tommy was asked what his relationship was like with his co-star Alexis Bledel : "I'm going to phrase this in the gentlest way I can by saying that Alexis and I were just not too awfully close, ever. Even for a moment."

It is kinda funny. Leif Garrett, who plays the villain and Tommy's enemy on-screen, in real life they are the best of friends and Leif is apparently a real nice guy. Alexis Bledel, who plays one of his best friends on-screen, in real life they never got along.

In the interview that Leif and Tommy did together, Tommy was asked  : So is she anything like her character?

Tommy [laughs] : You're funny.

********************************************************************************************************************

Did you guys ever notice that when they put Alexis Bledel and Rob Lowe's characters together in the show that they don't have very good chemistry? The actors is what I mean, don't have very good chemistry.

== Yeah I got that too. The problem is, when I watch them playing a couple, I feel like I'm watching two actors. I don't feel like I'm watching a real couple.

== You can tell by the way they look at each other two. Now when Alexis Bledel says 'I love you' to Matt Dillon's character, I believe her. When she says it to Rob Lowe's character, I don't believe her for a second. Rachel and Dally were way more believable as a couple!

== Yeah, you can tell by the way Rob and Alexis act around each other in the scenes they don't get along. Rob says in his book that out of the girls on the show, he was closest with Michelle Meyrink, the one who played Marcia. When Rob's character has a scene with Michelle's character, you can tell by the way he looks at her that he likes that actress better. You can tell by the way they interact on-screen that they are friends in real life.

Rob Lowe didn't have too nice words for Alexis Bledel, who played his on-screen girlfriend and addresses friendship he had with Michelle Meyrink :

"I never really mind doing any kind of scenes that involve romantic intrigue, those are the easiest scenes to film, even if you don't like the other actor."

"Michelle was one of the nicest people I worked with. We're always in constant touch. She's a great friend of mine."

How The Outsiders Should Have Ended!

The original writers had a whole different series finale script planned until The WB demanded changes.

The WB agreed to sign The Outsiders on for a twelfth and final season, but also demanded changes when the writers of the series forwarded their series finale script.

The original ending that the writers wanted?

Dally left in the season six finale, but what was suppose to happen was when he came back for the series finale, he was suppose to propose to Rachel and they were suppose to get married in the series finale episode.

But when The WB saw this, they said, 'No, Rachel's gonna end up with Soda, change that!'

So when the writers re-wrote the script, Dally returned in the series finale, not proposing to Rachel, they wrote that out, and Rachel ends up with Soda.

Rachel and Dally were together from seasons 1-6. Dally leaves in the season six finale, but if he hadn't left, the writers would've kept them together. The same episode where Dally leaves is also the same episode where Rachel and Soda end up a couple.

Twobit and Marcia's baby twins (a boy and a girl) are born in season six. In the season nine finale when Twobit gets a job at a police station in Washington D.C, he and Marcia and the twins leave the show in that episode to move to Washington. Therefore, Emilio Estevez and Michelle Meyrink are removed from the credits.

The only four that are on the show for the complete series is Darry, Soda, Rachel and Tim.

It hurt many fans when all these characters left, but the REAL downfall is when Ponyboy leaves in the season ten finale. He was the main central character that the show revolved around when the show started. They REALLY should have ended it when he left.

After the loss of many characters in season nine, Timothy Hutton was brought into the cast as a new character named Willie Conway.

Tommy Howell - Ponyboy Curtis - Seasons 1-10; 12 (guest appearance)

Patrick Swayze - Darry Curtis - Seasons 1-12

The loss of many characters :

Season 6 : Dally

Season 9 : Johnny, Steve, Randy, Marcia, Twobit and Bob

Season 10 : Ponyboy

I think the reason the fans of the show say seasons 1-8 is the best is because that's before everyone stars leaving. Dally was the first to leave in the season six finale, but the majority of the cast is still there. After season 8 everyone starts leaving and the cast starts dwindling down. And let's add that the writers just got lazy.

And as for the final season, I'm not even going to talk about. One word : Disgrace
